5 Ingredients to Look For When Buying Skincare Products

Most products come with a pamphlet of ingredients that can confuse even the most beauty savvy. When buying skincare products keep an eye out for these proven and powerful ingredients.

1. Vitamin C

Skin brightening, dark spot fading, and sun protecting, vitamin C is a standout ingredient when it comes to skincare. Any age and skin type can benefit from the enhancing effects vitamin C can have when applied topically. One of its most recognized powers is its ability to protect skin against sun damage and help correct the signs of past exposure. Vitamin C fights free radicals, which we are exposed to on a daily basis thanks to the sun, pollution and air! Find this anti-aging antioxidant in our Pamplemousse PS Cream. Suited for normal to dry skin, this nourishing cream is infused with grapefruit extract and an aromatic blend of citrus essential oils.

2. Hyaluronic Acid

Created via natural a fermentation process the manmade version of the naturally occurring substance in our bodies, hyaluronic acid is the ultimate ingredient in moisturizers for a few reasons. Not only does the humectant lock in water to alleviate the symptoms of dry and dehydrated skin, hyaluronic acid also plumps the skin temporarily reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For supple, youthful looking skin try either our HYDRA N°1 Fluide (perfect for dehydrated and oily skin) or the HYDRA N°1 Serum (suitable for all skin types). Both of these hydrating serums contain hyaluronic acid and other natural ingredients to support a healthy complexion.

3. AHA/BHA

AHA and BHA are gentle acids that improve the texture and appearance of skin by smoothing your complexion. Naturally derived AHA’s are great for normal to dry skin types and those with signs of sun damage. These acids help your skin retain moisture and promote the production of collagen. For normal to oilier complexion, BHA’s are a good fit. These acids can help banish blemishes in acne prone skin, and also alleviate irritation for those with sensitive skin. Incorporate fruit acids into your beauty regimen with the Alpha-Complex concentrate, an effective lightweight night treatment with a blend of alpha hydroxy acids.

4. Niacinamide

Part of the vitamin B group, niacinamide is a multi-tasking skincare ingredient. It promotes circulation, stops water loss in the skin, and can also treat discoloration and heal blemishes. Sometimes included in serums and moisturizers, niacinamide is a popular pick for vanishing an entire list of skin woes.

5. Vitamin E

When you were younger your mom might’ve popped a vitamin E capsule to apply to a scar or repair chapped lips. While the thick goo in the capsule may have been adequate as a kid, that dense oil could cause breakouts if applied now. You can still reap the benefits of vitamin E, which includes moisturizing dry skin, reducing the appearance of scars, and protecting against free radicals, with certain beauty products. Discover some of Yon-Ka’s vitamin E infused treatments, such as the revitalizing Serum Vital and the hydrating Creme 28 online.
