Since becoming a mom last August, I swear that the area around my eyes has aged five years. I’m prone to more puffiness, more pronounced dark circles, and there is even a fresh crop of fine lines settling in underneath my bottom lashes. Until recently, I never felt like I had the time or the need to incorporate an eye cream into my routine – but I’m finding that one simple step can easily nourish and prevent any further damage.
The Benefits
You might think that your daily moisturizer or nightly cream is enough to protect the precious skin around your eyes, but because that area is lacking its own oil glands, there truly is a need to treat it with a little extra tender love and care. While they might seem unnecessary to some, eye creams are created specifically for the super sensitive area around your eyes, and when incorporated into your routine, they can combat puffiness, lighten dark circles and even fade fine lines.
Choosing The Right One
To get the most from an eye cream, find one that can be applied during the day and one for at night. For your nighttime option, look for something that delivers anti aging benefits without any irritation (like Yon-Ka’s Phyto-Contour). You want something that blends in easily and fast. I like to test eye creams on my hand, opting for one that vanishes completely and without too much effort – because rubbing and tugging the area around your eyes will not do it any favors.
When To Use It
Eye cream should also be applied during the daytime – and this is where the fun comes in. The best eye creams on the market right now can actually lighten the area under your eye while also priming and providing SPF. They are your basic everyday miracle worker and trust me when I tell you that your makeup routine is not complete without one. These creams help to protect the area underneath your eyes and will prevent any further damage that can lead to more wrinkles or hyperpigmentation.
Application
When it comes to application, make sure to use a light touch and the pad of your ring finger to apply. For most of us, our ring finger is the weakest digit, leaving us the least likely to inflict any harm on the very delicate skin around our eyes. If you have a minute before bed, gently pat your eye cream under your eyes and use your ring finger to massage it up into the brow bone. While I used to dread the thought of another step between me and my pillow, now I love the ritual of applying my eye cream – and I especially love the results.
Final Words
The right combination of eye creams will provide an eye area that is brightened and less puffy, while also making an impact on fine lines. The health of your eye area is crucial to keeping your face looking young and vibrant. I promise that if you have not implemented an eye cream before now, you are in for a treat!

I ordered dermalmd under eye serum I guess I could say that this eye serum is pretty good. Out of my many insecurities my dark circles is one of them. My skin tone is quite fair but due to my dark circles I always look so dull. Ofcourse this serum hasn’t vanished my all of my dark circles as it has barely been a week since I started using it, but i guess it does what it says. My eyes have become so much more moisturised and the dullness is gone. I think the darkness is a shade lighter or so.
