Superfood Spotlight: Garlic

I’m Italian, so my motto has always been something along the lines of “the more garlic, the better.” I love the stuff in any and all foods – from Caesar Salad to homemade pesto, but I recently learned that one of my favorite flavors could be doing some amazing things for my skin, my immune system, and my overall health. Who knew?

Keep reading to find out what…

Clears Acne

It turns out that a healthy helping of garlic can actually help to clear acne. Ok, so you actually have to apply it topically to make a difference (and go to bed smelling like Caesar Salad), but home remedy and acne experts alike cannot argue with the effects. Garlic does clear acne – and fast! Many testers claim that spots and redness were reduced overnight with the very first use.  A more pleasant acne remedy is and clear skin is yours in an easy to use, no mess concentrate Juvenil.

Keeps the Common Cold Away

Fresh garlic everyday keeps the doctor away? It’s true! Turns out that doctors dating back to practically the Stone Age prescribed garlic to increase endurance and strength, warding off plagues and gaining major reputation for its healing powers. In the modern age, garlic’s rich nutrients are extremely beneficial in boosting immune function, keeping us healthy and happy.

Incredibly Nutritious and May Assist Weight Loss

Aside from being incredibly nutritious, garlic is tremendously low in calories. The super food packs a variety of vitamins and minerals. This means that cooking with garlic not only makes your meals taste delicious, but it provides wonderful health benefits and may also be friendly for your waistline. More, please!

Lowers Blood Pressure and Risk of Heart Disease

As a woman, I am highly sensitive to information about heart disease. High blood pressure drives the risk in this department, so my ears naturally perk up whenever there is news about anything that can help to keep my blood pressure where it’s supposed to be. It turns out that garlic is high on the list of helpers. A large dose of garlic (ahem, 4 cloves per day) has been proven to be as effective as meds for people suffering from high blood pressure. Music to a garlic lover’s ears!

Wrapping up…

I absolutely love hearing that garlic can provide so many wonderful benefits to my body. It’s nice to know that I can use something already sitting on my counter to help with a handful of everyday ailments – and that I can enjoy one of my very favorite foods while doing something good for my health.
