How to Keep Your Skin Clear When You Sweat A lot

For a lot of ladies, working out is part of our weekly routine. Personally I like to do some form of exercise at least every other day, and I mix it up with weights, High Intensity Interval Training group fitness classes, cardio and outdoor runs. While exercising in general is good for you skin, letting sweat sit post-workout is not! Here are a few ways to keep your skin consistently clear and still reap all the benefits of sweating.

1. Shower immediately after you work out.

“Sudsing” up after a sweat session is key to keeping skin breakout-free. Ridding your body of toxins is great for fighting blemishes, but leaving that detoxed sweat on your skin is as gross as it sounds. Hit the showers right after you workout, whether that means using the facilities at your gym or bee lining for the bathroom as soon as you get home. When in a jam, do the bare minimum and wipe down skin with a purifying toner like Lotion Yon-Ka PNG.

2. Pay special attention to breakout prone areas.

The face, back and chest are popular places to breakout so be thorough when cleansing those areas. Wash your skin using a deep cleaning wash like the Gel Nettoyant, which is an invigorating solution crafted with iris root and red algae (two powerful natural purifiers). I also recommend buying an exfoliating back towel, which will help you reach that zone on your upper back that’s susceptible to pimples. We tend to see problems in that area because sweat gets trapped beneath our sports bra and sits for the duration of our workout. In addition to showering right after you exercise, swap your sports bra for one made out of a breathable fabric like cotton to banish “backne”.

3. Never re-wear workout gear.

Be sure to regularly wash any apparel you workout in! Wearing a garment twice is double exposing your skin to the oil and bacteria that can clog pores. If doing laundry is your favorite thing to procrastinate, amp up your workout wardrobe with a few extra pieces so you’re never tempted to wear dirty digs.

4. Keep hair off your face and neck.

Is looking glam at the gym really necessary? Tie your hair back to keep it away from your skin. When exercising, your hair will soak up your sweat. If you let that hair sit on your skin it will just aggravate the issue and lead to more breakouts down the road.

5. Treat skin to prevent pimples.

If you follow all the aforementioned tips and are still suffering from sweat pimples you may need to incorporate an acne treatment into your skincare routine. Emulsion Pure is a unique and effective product that is used as a compress to help calm skin. Gentle enough to use even after a sunburn, this purifying and regenerating solution is a great step to use on skin after cleansing and toning. Soak compresses with Emulsion Pure and apply to the problem area for ten to fifteen minutes. Follow with your regular moisturizer.
