Breast cancer is the second most common cancer affecting women in the United States with an estimated 281,550 new cases being diagnosed each year. Roughly 1 in 8 American women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, though a woman’s risk doubles if she has a first-degree relative who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
While breast cancer is the most common cancer globally, accounting for about 12% of all new cancer cases around the world, there is still a great deal of misinformation out there about it. Every October signals the start of a month-long awareness event represented by the pink breast cancer ribbon.
Once again this year, Yon-Ka Paris is teaming up with Cancer + Careers in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help educate the world and to give back to the brave men and women (and their families) who are fighting cancer.
Be the Boss Over Cancer
This year Cancer + Careers celebrates its 20th year empowering and educating people with cancer to help them thrive in their workplace. This organization provides expert advice, interactive tools, and educational events for cancer patients, survivors, and their families, assisting more than 485,000 people each and every year.
Cancer + Careers helps cancer patients and survivors get back to everyday life and back to work after their diagnosis and treatment. Their website provides access to a large library of free publications, support groups, coaching, and other support services that 99% of program participants say provide them with something valuable they use in their everyday lives.
Think Pink with Yon-Ka Paris
French-inspired skincare Brand Yon-Ka Paris recognizes the important work Cancer + Careers is doing and the difference they’re making in the lives of cancer patients, survivors, and their families. To directly support this wonderful organization, Yon-Ka Paris is donating $1 from every purchase of their popular Nude Perfect product toward Cancer + Careers.
Nude Perfect Fluide is Yon-Ka’s beautifying blur cream that shields the skin from a trifecta of modern stressors including urban pollution, UV light, and environmental aggressors. Look for the pink ribbon when shopping Yon-Ka’s website to show your support for Cancer + Careers and their mission.
How Else Can You Help?
Breast Cancer Awareness month happens each October and it provides an excellent opportunity to join the fight against breast cancer. Show your support for Cancer + Careers with a financial donation or by donating your time or services or choose another organization or research foundation to support.
In addition to supporting these organizations, raise awareness among your friends and family. Encourage your friends and family to keep up with their annual physicals and to start annual breast cancer screenings after age 40. Be proactive about your own health and be an advocate for others in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
