Product Spotlight: Masque 103

Three is better than one, which is why Yon-Ka included a trio of purifying clays in the Masque 103. Bentonite, Kaolin and Montmorillonite combine to create this clarifying clay mask that tightens pores and clears your complexion. Discover why Masque 103 is the essential weekly treatment for normal to oily skin types.

A weekly treatment to decongest pores and oxygenate the complexion

Clay masks are commonly known for their ability to improve the clarity and texture of skin, and this version from Yon-Ka does all that and more. From the three clays that absorb oil and tighten pores to the essential oils that purify and tone the skin, this mask works overtime to combat all the woes of congested or oily skin.

Those with oily skin tend to suffer from a shiny complexion and clogged pores. Basically our natural sebum mixes with makeup, sunscreen and dirt, which then gets trapped in our pores and oxidizes. The result is big pores and blackheads (neither of which are a trend this summer). Using Masque 103 once a week will clear out those congested pores and oxygenate the skin for smooth, flawless summer skin.

Prevent future breakouts and treat existing blemishes at the same time

Using Masque 103 as part of your weekly beauty regimen will help control oil and clear pores, resulting in fewer breakouts. But what about those blemishes you’re dealing with now? Nothing is worse than breaking out before a beach day or big event. Luckily you can also use Masque 103 as an intensive overnight treatment to shrink and heal existing blemishes. Before bed, simply cleanse, tone and moisturize as usual and then apply a thin layer of Masque 103 to affected areas. Leave on overnight and follow your normal beauty regimen the next morning.

Excess oil is absorbed and blackheads are reduced

Achieving a matte complexion when your skin is naturally oily can be tough. Especially in the summer when skin can get extra shiny. Remember to add in Masque 103 once a week (#SundaySpaDay?) and I promise you’ll see a reduction in oil and blackheads. To apply, cleanse and tone skin as normal and then apply a thick layer of the mask to your neck and face. Leave on for 15 minutes, occasionally spraying with Lotion Yon-Ka to keep the mask damp. Using warm water, then gently rinse off the mask and pat dry. Follow with whatever serum or cream you currently love.

Note: You may think allowing Masque 103 to harden or dry out would make it absorb more oil and debris — but that is not the case! Clay masks are just as effective damp. If you’ve ever had a facial, you’ll notice your aesthetician will apply compresses during a mask treatment to maintain moisture. Clay masks should actually never become hard on the face, as this can dry out or irritate the skin and make the mask difficult to remove. Excessive rubbing to remove the mask kind of cancels out all the healing and soothing you’re achieving. Final words? Remember to mist while you mask!
