I have struggled with my skin for so long, but one thing that has made a big difference for me is investing in quality products and services. I learned the hard way that there truly is no good short cut when it comes to taking top-notch care of your face. Trust me when I tell you that each of the following splurges are very worth it – and your glowing skin will be the proof.
1. Regular Facials
I highly recommend finding an aesthetician that you love and trust who, more importantly, uses products that you love and trust. Just working facials into my skincare routine quarterly has changed my skin. I love how the experience is fully customizable too. A good facial is stress-free, pain-free, and will leave you with a stunning glow. My go-to aesthetician has been as helpful to me as my dermatologist in helping me to get my skin under control.
2. High-End Products
I used to be a big believer in mixing high and low products, but the truth is that my skin has seen the most dramatic changes since committing to a complete high-end routine from one single brand. The products are designed to all work together and the results are stunning proof that it’s not just a gimmick. High end products contain quality ingredients which that have proven to be more effective in keeping my skin clearer than anything I have ever tried from the drugstore. This may not be true for everyone, but spending more could make all of the difference.
3. High-Quality Sheets
A higher thread count is not only softer to the touch, but it’s more gentle on your skin, so treating yourself to a new set of bed linens is yet another way to improve your skin. I know that personally, my face can freak out simply by sleeping on hotel sheets for one night when I travel. I now bring my own pillowcase wherever I go. If you’re so inclined, a silk pillowcase can be an even more face-friendly option, both at home and on the road.
4. Coconut Water
Not only does coconut water provide ultra-effective hydration, but it is chock full of nutrients that make your skin look great. Swapping one or two of your eight glasses per day is an easy way to work the skin-loving goodness into your diet. Bonus? It tastes delicious and is extra refreshing, especially after my favorite yoga class.
5. High-Quality Makeup Remover and Cleanser
Confession: I have completely stopped washing my face. In lieu of a makeup remover and cleanser, I use micellar water, and it has made all of the difference for me. I started with a micellar water from the drugstore and found the results to be just “okay”. Once I made the investment in a better quality, more antioxidant-rich and skin-soothing formula, my face took on a silky, soft texture.
The best thing about these splurges is that they are not all or nothing. You can choose one or two that work for you and see if you can notice a difference in your skin. I can’t wait to hear what you think!
