I have always wished for the day when good skin would come in the form of a pill. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy.
However, there are several supplements that can have a major impact on the health of your skin. Here are five that we have found to be extra beneficial…
Fish Oil
This “super fat” is very good for you! Not only is it known to help your skin look more radiant and glowing, but it also increases the health of your heart. Double win! If you’re not a fan of capsules, try looking for foods that include omega-3 such as walnuts, flax seed, and salmon.
Biotin
A big one in the beauty industry, biotin is often found in hair and nail products, but it can also be found naturally in foods like nuts and bananas. The benefits of biotin include helping your hair grow healthier and stronger and improving brittle nails.
Fern Extract
Think of fern extract as internal defense for your skin. This supplement can provide protection from the sun and also provide an anti-inflammatory effect. It’s something that that natives of Honduras have known for years, but modern medicine is backing these claims with a recent study!
Iron
Iron is necessary to maintain healthy cells, skin, hair, and nails so any iron deficiency will directly affect these areas. Boosting your iron with a supplement or by chowing down on iron-rich foods like spinach will give your skin a naturally healthy appearance, transforming it from the inside out.
Zinc
Zinc can boost your immune system, helping your skin heal from acne and even help small wounds. Using this supplement can also give your skin a smoother looking appearance. Fun fact: as a new mom, I have learned that zinc is key in treating diaper rash.

Fish oil is a skin life-saver! I break the pill in half and rub some of it on my skin before I go to sleep. You must let it dry before putting your head on the pillow or it may stain. I learned the hard way!
